Levi Riggs, an Indiana home boy from Danville, IN got a thrill of a lifetime when he opened a fantastic Saturday night summer concert at the Hendricks County 4H fair fairground July 12.
Bret Michaels (of Poison fame) played an intimate concert for about 400 people Saturday night in Hendricks County Indiana. He could have played for about five time that many people, seating-wise. The drawback (for the band) was that the fair did not start until the next day and advertising for the concert was not too great. That was a plus for those of us who came to the show. Great seats, relaxed atmosphere and lots of crowd interaction . I can say that it was one of the best shows I have attended.
It had everything a great show should, including a great opening act, Levi Riggs.
Though his genre is country, the kid has rock and Indiana in his soul. He had the crowd up, singing and cheering, which is what the good opening act can and should do.
Levi was having so much fun being the background for the “selfies and us-ies” as many people from the audience took a turn at walking up to the stage for a close up picture.
Bret had about four rows of front-row standing, in front of the seats. Those were military and first responders that were at the pre-show meet and greet. He was also very accommodating with pictures, handshakes, hugs and autographs.
For both acts, the energy was high, the enthusiasm wonderful and they were genuinely glad to be sharing their Saturday night with the best of the Midwest in Indiana.
Tanner and Emme had a great time. We did not sit down for the entire concert, so they got a good idea of what it is like to go to a show where you are a part of the action the whole time. Lots of hand waving, clapping and singing along, which is what a great show is all about.
The pictures are okay, with a cell phone camera. I think they capture the fun we had. All I can say is it was one of the best $20 concerts I have ever been to. Matter of fact, it was better than some more expensive and “bigger” name show I have seen in my life.
And the buffalo burger from English’s Buffalo Farm was a fantastic supper too!!!
