Road Trip with Mom 8-2-2013

While I was on vacation earlier this month, I spent a day with Mom. Instead of shopping (which we did later) we started by driving almost 45 minutes west of Plainfield to a spot west of Greencastle.

There is a bridge that was part of the original US 40 West. A piece of road that was traveled by thousands of our ancestors as they moved from the East Coast to the west. AND the main thoroughfare as the automobile came of age.

Before all of that, it was a path the indigenous people of this land used to travel across the wooded swamp land that our state once was.

It is quiet and secluded. Lots of poison oak vines, lichen, moss wildflowers, trees and some of what looks to be Big Walnut Creek running under it. There was a lot of mining sounds coming from around the bend, but no traffic at all.

A perfect setting for portraits if you live in the area.  It is on the right west of Greencastle, like 550W or something like that. Enjoy!
